Get on the AIR CHARTS
Four steps to getting yourself an indie hit!
Step 1: Get your release on the ARIA chart database To get your release on the The Jagermeister AIR charts you must be in the ARIA database, listed as either a Single / EP or an Album. Any Australian release being sold in stores is eligible for inclusion in the ARIA database. This should be standard operation procedure for your label anyway. To make sure that ARIA (and therefore AIR) can track your releases; you need to do one of the following: Ask your distributor to make sure the title information has been supplied to ARIA or if you are releasing the title independently, you need to supply the following information to

* Title and Artist name * Format - Single (up to 5 different tracks), Album (6 tracks or more). * Medium – (eg CD, Vinyl etc) * Release Date * Music Genre * Country of Origin (of the Artist on the release) * Catalogue number – Try to make your catalogue number a unique identifier. Alpha numerical is recommended. For example, Red Robin Records might use the following catalogue system: REDR200901, for their 1st release of 2009. Providing a catalogue number ensures that the information that is printed on your physical product (and listed in store computers) at retail, matches with the ARIA database. * Barcode Number – The easiest way for ARIA to track down your releases is by barcode, because barcode numbers provide a unique identifier for a release. If you are an AIR member, please talk to us about arranging barcodes for your releases. Having a barcode is also beneficial as some retailers (particularly some of the big department stores) will not stock your product without a barcode. Note that if your release is also distributed digitally (it should be!) then you/or your distributor must specifically ask ARIA digital sales as well.
Step 2: The ARIA charts are calculated ARIA collects recorded music sales data from the majority of Australia's physical and digital music retailers. The catalogue number and barcode data from each store is matched with the ARIA database and the sales figures are extrapolated to achieve a 'best estimate' of the actual overall sales of each title. Titles are ranked according to their 'weighted' sales figures. For more information go to www.aria.com.au.
Step 3: The Jagermeister AIR charts are calculated AIR receives the ARIA charts data every Monday morning and then extracts the independent Australian titles from that list and publishes the AIR Charts.
